RE: Termination Review Request
I am writing to you to formally appeal for my current termination status in the university. While the termination letter did not come as a surprise to me, I am majorly disappointed in me for allowing myself to land in such a bad situation. I would like to appreciatively take this chance to explain the various circumstances that have led me to poor academic performance with the hope that you will consider me for a reinstatement to continue with my course.
The past few semesters have been very hard for me considering the fact that I am an international student. I have had a very tough time adjusting especially in terms of styles of learning. My issue has been adjusting not only to college learning but also to the style of learning here in Singapore considering the fact that it is different from the Indian styles of learning which I have gotten accustomed to my whole life. This fact plus the fact that I am studying in a whole new environment, away from home have further made it that much more difficult for me to readjust from high school learning to more adult college learning. It has taken me much longer than I thought it could to readjust in relation to matters of transition to adult learning, language problems, college aspects of writing such as plagiarism and referencing as well as the different style of learning here in Singapore and this is the reason for the continued poor performance and for this I apologize.
I would highly appreciate readmission to my chosen course because I believe that this course will give me all the necessary skills and knowledge to help me be of positive impact to my society in my sphere of influence. Further, I would not wish to have this college experience anywhere else in the world rather than Singapore because of the quality of education and the promising levels of exposure that this country offers.
Given a chance to continue pursuing this course, I am confident that I will do much better. I have put in place the following action plan to help me achieve better performance going forward:
· Take help from other students in my class.
· Seeking mentorship to help me cope with the changes that are causing the readjustment issues
· Work closely with my tutors to help me meet some specific learning needs that are different from others.
I should be given another chance as the appeals committee does not expect college students to be perfect. A big part of college is making mistakes and then learning from them, so it makes sense that a successful appeal shows that you recognize your mistakes and have learned from them. Please understand that my poor academic performance which is leading to my dismissal does not indicate that I am a bad student. I will make sure to be in my classes right on time, do well in all my assessments and never repeating what I have done in my past, I would really stand up to my commitment and won’t let the appeals committee regret the decision of letting me continue with my If I fail to do so and prove my capabilities, I will be responsible for my own actions and will bear consequences for the same. I understand and accept that failure to keep to my commitment of doing better in my academics will result in Termination from course. I hope you will give me a second chance. Thank you for considering this appeal.
